Recipe: Hot Garlic Biscuits
Spice Up Your BBQ Nights
After a long grilling season we found ourselves in need of something new at the table. That's when our Guest Chef Marcus McCree stepped in to save the day. Inspired by a summer full of comfort food cookouts, he whipped up this protein and fiber rich 1-2 punch that adds a rich heat to a classic side dish.
Hot Garlic Biscuits
10 Min Prep + 10-12 Min Cooking Time= about 25 mins
You will need:
2 cups All Purpose Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
2 TB Hot Garlic Omega Seed Spice (1TB for dry mix, 1TB for blooming in butter)
1 TB Italian Omega Seed Spice
1 cup Buttermilk (chilled)
4 TB butter (1/2 a stick)
4 TB vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 475.
Melt butter and 1 TB of Hot Garlic Omega Seed Spice over medium heat. Once melted, add vegetable oil and let it cool for five minutes.
After the five minute cooling period, add your buttermilk, mix and set aside.
Combine all dry ingredients and mix together.
Slowly combine your buttermilk mixture with the dry mixture and stir until they are fully mixed, but don't go overboard! Your dough will be sticky- but it should be dry enough that it doesn't stick to your hands. Two tablespoons should make a medium sized biscuit- gently form your uncooked biscuits into uniform sizes and drop them one-by-one onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake at 475 on middle rack for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
When you pull these babies out of the oven, let them cool for five to six minutes before you dig in. That's an optimal time to snap a photo!
